Create Color-coded Object Tags
Using color-coded object tags, your teams can quickly identify and prioritize the most important deals, tickets, leads, and custom object records in their pipelines. For example, you could create a green deal tag called Large deal and assign it to any deal with an Amount value greater than $10,000.
Object tags can be used in other HubSpot tools such as saved views, reports, workflows, segments and reports once you've set them up.
Create object tags
Your HubSpot subscription determines the maximum number of tags you can create across all objects.

1. Click the settings icon in the top navigation bar of your HubSpot account.
2. In the left sidebar menu, navigate to Objects, then select the object for which you want to create tags.
3. Click the Pipelines tab.
4. Click the [Object] Tags tab. For leads, click Manage leads tags.
5. Click Add tag to create a new object tag. You can choose a preset deal tag or create your own by clicking Create from scratch.
6. Set up your object tag settings in the right panel:
- Enter a name and an optional description for the object tag.
- Click the Color dropdown menu, then select the color assignment for the object tag.
- All pipelines will have an object tag by default. In the dropdown menu, select the checkboxes for pipelines you want the object tag to appear on, then select Specific pipelines.
7. Click Next: Add Filters.
8. Set up filters for when the object tag should appear:
- Click +Add filter to add your first filter group.
- By default, the tag will filter on the current object (e.g., Deals for a deal tag). The Filtering on dropdown menu allows you to specify criteria based on an associated object (e.g., a deal tag based on the contact associated with the deal).
- Select the filter category (e.g., object properties, membership in a segment/import).
- Search for and select a property or segment/import, then set your criteria.
** Please note: Currently, you cannot set criteria based on stage or status properties. Object tags will appear on applicable records in all pipeline stages, however, you can set filters based on closed deal stages using the Is deal closed? property. Set the criteria for this property to False to exclude closed deals.
- The +Add filter button can be used within a group to specify additional criteria for the object tag. The AND logic applies within a group, which means that all filter criteria must be met within that group to display the object tag.
- By clicking +Add filter group, you can add an additional filter group and set the filters and criteria. OR logic applies across groups, which means all filter criteria in at least one group must be met for the object tag to appear.
- The changes you make are automatically applied. To undo the changes, click Discard changes. This will clear all filters for new object tags. Existing object tags will revert to their previous settings.
9. Click Next: Review Tag.
10. View a preview of how the object tag will appear, as well as the object tag's settings and filters.
11. Once you're done, click Save.
Cards with object tags will appear in the board view once they are created. Tags can be shown in list view or hidden in a view. To show only records with specific object tags, users can filter their individual views by [Deal/ticket/lead/object] tags.
